Background

I'm currently a professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Sao Paulo - Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Human Sciences. As a BlueCarbon scientist and biogeochemist, my primary focus is on coastal wetland ecosystems, where my expertise spans diverse areas, including metals contamination, carbon stocks, greenhouse gas emissions, anthropic impacts, climate change, and ecosystem services.

My educational journey reflects my passion for environmental research and commitment to academic excellence. In 2021, I successfully completed my Ph.D. in soil and plant nutrition at the prestigious Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture - University of São Paulo. During my doctoral studies, I delved deep into understanding how biogeochemical processes drive the dynamics of elements (e.g., metals, carbon, and phosphorus) in degraded estuarine ecosystems affected by extreme climate events and anthropogenic activities.

Prior to my Ph.D., I pursued my Master's degree in soil science at Universidade Federal do Ceará, where I honed my skills in soil analysis and environmental research. This academic pursuit allowed me to explore the effects of land-use change, such as shrimp farming, in mangrove ecosystems on soil carbon, nitrogen, and greenhouse gas emission.

My academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in agronomy at the same institution, Universidade Federal do Ceará, in 2014. This opportunity laid the foundation for my career in environmental sciences and fostered my passion for estuarine ecosystems.
